TEZOS | Protocol: Nairobi
Motion Design and animation for the 14th Tezos protocol update.
A blockchain designed to evolve. Each iteration of the Tezos protocol powers the Web3, bringing new features which seamlessly incorporate into its code. The latest upgrade, named after the city of Nairobi, is all about speed. So a race across the beautiful Savanna's sunset was the obvious choice to continue telling this story through animation. The other upgrades, focusing on communication and other systems, are visually represented between the racer, her bike systems and the communication with her companion drone.
And finally, Nairobi and its sculptures, textiles, architecture and colors led to a creation of a small sci-fi world inspired by the endless beauty of Kenya and its surrounding landscapes.

FINISHED ANIMATION | Other versions with text overlays indicating different features of Nairobi were also created, as well as different edits for the foundation. Much of the shots were considered from their inception for easy rearranging for vertical screens and different sizes as well.
Visual Development
The gliders and freighters were approached as a kit-bash of found elements that came directly inspired by found objects of Kenya's more original and urban universes. Colorful textiles, jewelry, musical instruments and other objects become portions and accessories for the bike, ships and props throughout the animation.
